Our Organic Classic soil is formulated for minimal nutrient input and provides all plant essential nutrients to sustain 4-6 weeks of healthy growth for most annual plants. These include vegetable, herb, ornamental and cannabis plants. The timing of first nutrient application will depend on whether a healthy or a deficient seedling or young plant is being transplanted into the Classic soil.
If your plant shows deficiencies prior to planting in the Classic, a full spectrum nutrient solution (EC = 1.2mS / 600 ppm) should be added with the first watering after transplant. Only clean pH’d (5.5-6.5) water should be added to the soil for 2-3 weeks following the initial nutrient application. A second vegetative nutrient application may not be necessary depending on whether the plant is excessively ‘hungry’.
If your plant is healthy and green prior to planting in the Classic, only clean pH’d (5.5-6.5) water should be given for the first 2-3 weeks. Your first nutrient application of a full spectrum nutrient solution (EC = 1.2mS / 600 ppm) should be added at this time.
Nutrient application after 3 weeks of growth will depend on the length of the life cycle. As a general rule, apply a maximum of one full spectrum nutrient solution (EC = 1.2mS / 600 ppm) per week and a minimum of one full spectrum nutrient solution (EC = 1.2mS / 600 ppm every 2 weeks.
Further information will be shared on this topic in future posts. Growing healthy plants is about getting to know them and understanding what they are ‘telling you’ through the symptoms they express. Learn their language, watch them closely and develop your intuition on when and how to respond to their needs.
